Join us for our biggest fundraiser of the year, the Rick Goodfellow Invitational! Enjoy an afternoon of golf at the beautiful Hylands Golf Club, followed by a delicious dinner in the clubhouse and an evening of fun with prizes and a silent auction. Meet RGI Charity founders, Rick & Nicole Goodfellow, and hear firsthand about the positive difference you can make in the lives of the 4000+ Olympic Primary School children who live in Kibera, the largest slum in Africa!
On one of their visits to the Olympic Primary School, Rick & Nicole noticed that there weren't enough desks for all of the students. Many children had to sit on the floor and the desks they did have were in pretty rough shape. So they decided to start building desks! A $90 donation is all it takes to provide a desk that seats 3-4 students and includes having a special message written on the front of the desk (they make great gifts!). This program not only helps the students but also their families as Rick & Nicole have hired parents from the school to supply the lumber, build the desks & paint the signs.
In 2011, RGI Charity extended it's outreach to include a scholarship program for secondary school students. A scholarship includes tuition for the year, a full uniform, a pair of shoes, a supply of paper and a daily lunch meal served at school. The RGI operates with ZERO overhead costs – all funds raised go directly to the school projects. Rick and Nicole fund their own travel to Kenya every year and the school partners volunteer their time to oversee the implementation of the projects. With transparency, accountability and integrity as the building blocks of their partnership with the school officials, the projects have always been delivered on time and within budget. The little train that could just keeps chugging along – turning the Olympic Primary School into the pride and joy of the students, the teachers and the grateful parents.
